In the stillness we can most easily know God.

Be still, and know that I am God. – Psalm 46:10

In the stillness we can most easily know God. Now days its harder to be still. I look at my surroundings and see many distractions. Sometimes I have to pray on my knees with my face to the ground just to be still and focused. I think of the story of Elijah as he's listening for God's voice. A strong wind, an earthquake and a fire all pass him, but God is not in either. "And after the fire there was a voice, a soft whisper." (1 Kings 19:12) He a still, small voice. To hear that, one must be still as well.

He fights our battles for us.

What then are we to say about these things? If God is for us, who is against us? He did not even spare His own Son but offered Him up for us all; - Romans 8:31-32aThere are times when it feels like the world is against us. When trouble seems to surround us on every side. But in times [...]

Communicating with God

While you can pray without fasting, there is not such thing as fasting without prayer. A fast without prayer is just going hungry. And what's the point in that? The Biblical reasons for fasting includes: seeking God’s intervention, repentance, guidance, worship, strengthening one's prayers and mourning. To be honest, I've combined very little of my prayer life with [...]

Be careful what you pray for.

Yep, this actually happened a few years ago. All of my daughter's just washed, folded and put away clothes all pulled out onto the floor. And they were both so proud of themselves. They just couldn't wait to show me. I knew they were quiet for way to long...His-Child.com (Christian Clothing that represents you, your [...]

What your heart beat looks like when the Pastor asks you to pray from the pulpit.

I thought this was funny, especially since my Pastor asked me from the pulpit if I had anything to announce to the congregation. I guess he thought I was coming into service to get his attention, when what I was really doing was trying to get the attention of one of my student's moms. I [...]

I Surrender All.

The song, "I Surrender All" is a lot easier to sing than it is to do. Surrendering all includes your ever desire, thought, word and action. Because this is so difficult in our world full of temptation I pray this regularly:Lord, let my thoughts be like your thoughts. Let my desires be like your desires. [...]

God calls you righteous, so you can be bold!

Hebrews 4:16 says, "Let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive His mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most." The Greek word for bold in Hebrews 4:16 is the word parresia. It basically means to have freedom of speech, confidence. This means we have [...]

The Kingdom of Heaven Came Down to Earth

In one of my favorite Bible stories, we read about a Samaritan woman and her interaction with Jesus. The woman said to him, “I know that Messiah is coming (he who is called Christ). When he comes, he will tell us all things.” Jesus said to her, “I who speak to you am he.” (John 4:25-26) This was [...]

What if we really prayed this way?

“You know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.” – 1 Corinthians 15:58I'm a do-er, which means I tend to do before I pray. I get most of a project done or most of an event planned and then think "Oh, I should have sought God before I got this far. Or [...]
