Communicating with God

Prayer and Fasting

While you can pray without fasting, there is not such thing as fasting without prayer. A fast without prayer is just going hungry. And what's the point in that? The Biblical reasons for fasting includes: seeking God’s intervention, repentance, guidance, worship, strengthening one's prayers and mourning. To be honest, I've combined very little of my prayer life with fasting. I have watched my husband do it as he interceded on a friends behalf. As a young student, I did fast, but looking back feel I might have missed the true purpose in my immaturity. I wonder if, one day, I will feel let to fast again and, in doing so, might gain the faith that Jesus spoke of in Matthew 17:20-21.

What are you praying for today?
